Do Birds Go to Heaven?

Description

Inspired by Adam Tamashasky's poem "Carolina Chickadee", the song Do Birds Go to Heaven? grapples with the questions we must ask ourselves as witnesses of the Anthropocene Extinction. Using the sounds of the Carolina Chickadee as rhythmic and melodic motifs, this progressive metal instrumental depicts humanity's rapid displacement of wildlife, infiltrating sonic ecosystems with harsh industrial anthrophony.

Although the Carolina Chickadee is not endangered, they change their bird song to be better heard over man-made noise pollution. In our struggle to avert planetary catastrophe, we must remember to think beyond numbers and to connect with the places we are losing at a visceral level. We are not just harming habitats and living beings - we're losing those who first gave us the gift of musical expression.
